My Community Pride
Each year we rely on the generosity of the individuals and businesses of our community for donations. Your contributions enable the Bedford Community Foundation to continue with beneficial projects that do much for the community where you live. Your leaders are spearheading projects involving education, arts, environment, culture, medical, human services, economic development, and civic affairs.
The Bedford Community Foundation was organized in 1991 and was classed as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Monroe County. All administration, grants, and investment functions were determined by the Community Foundation of Monroe County.
After several years, the Bedford organization applied to the IRS for the tax classification of “501 (c) 3” and was granted in 2005. This tax-free classification entitled Bedford Community Foundation to distance the organization and operate solely and independently. Endowed and non-endowed funds were created, maintained, and held in account in Bedford. In 2005, Community Foundation of Monroe County transferred all endowed and non-endowed funds to the administration of Bedford Community Foundation.
A president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer direct the present 15 members of the Board of Trustees. Community leaders and volunteers contribute their time and experience for the growth of the Bedford Community Foundation and the betterment of life in our community and surrounding areas.
